Wang Dawei

Professor Wang Dawei, born in 1954, is the executive dean of Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, member of Seventh Design Subject Review Panel of Academic Degree Commission of the State Council, and chairman of Shanghai Creative Designers Association. In China, he has first proposed the subject concept of "public art" and joined with academic resources to create the international public art award.

In recent years, professor Wang Dawei has participated in hosting, organizing, planning and designing tens of projects, including hosting and guiding the "Environmental Design for Sunken Square in Nanjing Road, Shanghai" and "Conceptual Design Program of Shanghai Metro Line M8 Station", which respectively won the gold and silver awards of artistic design on the 10th National Art Exhibition, the highest honor of fine arts in China; hosting overall design and programme implementation of Shanghai Baoshan International Folk Arts Exposition, overall design of "World Expo Museum" of 2010 Shanghai World Expo, theme presentation of China Pavilion, art decoration project of expo center, overall planning and design of Shanghai Rail Transit Lines 7 & 13 and design of stations decoration of several lines; organization and implementation of more than 10 construction projects, such as "Beautiful Village".
