Wanli Mo

Wanli Mo is assistant professor, College of Architecture and Urban Planning, Tongji University. Her research focuses on the history of modern Chinese architecture based on a global perspective, and she has also been engaged in criticism and curation of contemporary Chinese architecture in recent years. Mo has been published widely in Architectural Journal, Time+Architecture, Urban Environment Design, Retrospecta and etc. Since 2018, she has served as the acting editor of Architecture China. Mo is the curator of Gu Su Pavilion: Urban Regeneration Exhibition at Suzhou International Design Week (2021), Home, Sweet Home (2017) exhibition at Shanghai Power Station of Arts. She has also served as an assistant curator of the Pavilion of China, Biennale Architettura, 2018 Shanghai Urban Space Art Season 2017. She received her Doctoral degree from Tongji University and her Master of Architecture Degree from Yale University.

On the Essence and Texture of Development of Shanghai

The historical development of cities often leaves indelible marks on their spatial patterns, and Shanghai is no exception. The lecture will provide an overview of Shanghai's urban history and its spatial transformation, and analyses the phenomenon of urban regeneration in recent years, providing historical and spatial contexts for the participating curators.
