11.12Power Station of Art (PSA)

Established on October 1, 2012, the Power Station of Art (PSA) is the first state - run museum dedicated to contemporary art in mainland China. It is also home to the Shanghai Biennale. Renovated from the former Nanshi Power Plant, PSA was once the Pavilion of Future during the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. The museum has not only witnessed the city's vast changes from the industry age to the IT era, but also provided a rich source of inspirations for artists with its simple yet straightforward architectural styles. And as Shanghai's generator for its new urban culture, PSA regards non - stopping innovation and progress as the key to itslong - term vitality. The museum has been striving to provide an open platform for the public to learn and appreciate contemporary art, break the barrier between life and art, and promote cooperation and knowledge generation between different schools of art and culture.

Emerging Curators Project

PSA's Emerging Curators Project is China's exclusive young curator development and research project. As the contemporary art museum's annual exhibitory and academic trademark, the project stays committed to exploring young Chinese curatorial talents and providing them with a platform to practice conceptions, an opportunity to access comprehensive and in - depth guidance, a path to enter the public's eyes, and an environment to enjoy healthy growth. Since its inception in 2014, the Emerging Curators Project has so far supported more than 30 Chinese curatorial talents to realize a total of 14 exhibitions. With an open and fair reviewing principle that disregards backgrounds and encourages adventures, the six - year - old projecthas been gradually rising to become an important platform for young Chinese curators. Through exhibition-based practices, young curators emerging on this platform gain experiences as well as attention from the industry, while some of the curatorial plans taking form here are also translating into sustainable research and exhibition projects.

Shanghai Urban Space Art Season(SUSAS)

After the successes in 2015 and 2017, Shanghai Urban Space Art Season (SUSAS) 2019, organized by Shanghai Urban Planning and Natural Resources Bureau, Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism and Yangpu District People's Government, continues to discuss topics related to urban spaces based on current urban regeneration in Shanghai. As a continuation of the EXPO2010 spirit "Better City, Better Life", SUSAS, guided by the idea "Culture Enriches City, Art Enlightens City", aims to create "a city of art" and "art of life" through "public art into spaces" and "exhibition + practice". In this way, practices of public art and urban regeneration are introduced into the exhibition while accomplishments of SUSAS may be applied to urban renewal at work. Each SUSAS is intended, as an "EXPO that never closes", to make a hot cultural topic, create masterpieces of international artists and beautify a section of the public spaces. The theme of SUSAS 2019, which finds its roots in the "Huangpu River and Suzhou Creek" strategy of public space development, focuses on a globally concerned topic: how waterfronts bringwonderful life to people. A main exhibition, site projects, joint exhibitions and various public activities, in collaboration with "Millions of Citizens Observe Shanghai" and other tourist- cultural programs, will show the world how Shanghai has connected, enhanced the city's myriad of waterfront spaces and what more is to expect in a period of nearly two months.
