Verity Seward

Born in a conservative farming village in the South of England, I am an ambitious young curator, currently based between Berlin, London, and Montreal. I have a BA in English Literature & Art History from the University of Leeds, and an MA in the Arts of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas from the Sainsbury Research Unit at the University of East Anglia, Norwich. I also spent an exchange year at McGill University, Montreal where my research specialism in contemporary Indigenous art from North America and the Pacific was sparked, with a special focus on postcolonial, queer and gender studies. I currently work as Associate Curator at the Baldwin, London, and am the Gallery Manager at R E I T E R | Berlin Prospect. The climate crisis, wealth disparity, mental health, migration, and political instability are some of the most prescient issues in society today, and I am looking to collaborate on projects which help translate these complex ideas into emotionally resonant mediums. Through the SCL, I am eager to enrich my perspective, collaborate on radical ideas, and continue the momentum I have started in what I hope will be an exciting, internationally-focused career.
