Yichun Tang is a visual and conceptual artist who works in a diverse range of media such as printmaking, textile, sculpture and site-specific installations. He received his BA from the Fine Art Academy of Shanghai University in China. Followed by uprooting from his hometown Shanghai to Oslo, Norway in 2016, where he was pursuing his MFA in Medium and Material based in Art at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts.
Throughout Tang's works, the artist raises the question regarding the original and the copy while also blurring the boundaries between the imperfections and differences. Reflecting upon how to comprehend and accommodate to different perception is central to his practice. Viewers are often invited to engage in building up meaning in his works.
Tang has exhibited his art pieces in shows domestically and internationally in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Oslo and Berlin. He is the gracious recipient of the CSC Scholarship, and SKS Diversetipend for Nyudannede Kunstnere from the Arts Council Norway.
