I am an Indonesian independent curator, working exclusively in collaboration with others. Working from the position of an immigrant and settler in Toronto/Tkaronto, I am interested in projects around experimentation in learning, working, and playing together that nourishes diverse ways of thinking, specifically in relation to feminism, decolonization, and meaningful inclusion in cultural and institutional contexts. I am a member of two collectives: Younger Than Beyoncé Gallery and MICE Magazine. I have worked with the Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto, the Art Gallery of York University, and the Toronto Biennial of Art, as well as institutionally at the Art Museum at the University of Toronto and Sheridan College. I have an MA in Contemporary Art, Design and New Media Art Histories from OCAD University and serve on the programming board at SAVAC (South Asian Visual Arts Centre). investigate notions of memory and place using analog photography. Madalen is the Vice-President on the Abbotsford Arts Council Board of Directors, and curates for Art @ YXT, an airport exhibition project in Terrace, British Columbia.
