Joseph Constable

Joseph Constable is a London-based curator, writer and producer. As Assistant Curator at the Serpentine Galleries, he has organised exhibitions and co-edited accompanying publications of Albert Oehlen, Luchita Hurtado, Grace Wales Bonner, Atelier E.B, Christo and Jeanne-Claude, Ian Cheng, Torbjørn Rødland, Arthur Jafa, John Latham, Lucy Raven, Helen Marten and Alex Katz, as well as three Serpentine Pavilion commissions.

Prior to the Serpentine, Constable was Programme Curator at l'étrangère Gallery, London, Projects Assistant to producer and curator of artist moving image, Jacqui Davies, and Research Assistant at Artangel. Constable is the producer of two films by artist filmmaker, Callum Hill: Crowtrap (2018), recently exhibited at LUX and winner of the Berwick New Cinema Award, and For Eva Rising (2016). He has organised film screenings at Hackney Picturehouse, Peckhamplex Cinema, Mindscape Universe, Berlin, and Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, Swansea, and his writing has been published in Art Monthly, this is tomorrow, and as part of several exhibition catalogues.

Constable studied English Literature and Art History at University of Edinburgh and holds a Masters in Curating Contemporary Art from the Royal College of Art, London. He recently took part in an Arts Council funded curatorial research trip to South Korea, and in 2015, he was the winner of the NEON Curatorial Award, in collaboration with The Whitechapel Gallery, London.
