I'm from Ecuador, grew up in Portugal, and studied in a German school. I have a passion for literature and cinema. After completing my MA in Curatorial Practice at SVA in New York, I moved to Singapore where I work as Assistant Curator at the NTU Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore, and finally picked up martial arts. In another life I studied Piano (BA in Lisbon).
In graduate school, we had to introduce ourselves every week before a round table. Our teacher asked us to tell something new each time, so I had to present a lot of different Anas (by the end of the semester we were digging deep into childhood memories). However, having just one shot to introduce myself now, I hesitate, even though any impression you may get will later transform, when we meet in person and you confirm some suspicions, discard others.
I'm proud to have been part of the founding years of Frame Colectivo (2013–), a Lisbon-based art and architecture collective that creates social projects in public space. For my thesis (2016), I created Patafest, a festival devoted to the imaginary, the absurd, and the political. This experimental variety show, with music, performance, installation, poetry, and video, marked the 100th anniversary of Cabaret Voltaire, evoking Dada's legacy to explore how to foster collective action today.
I'm very excited to join you at SCL and look forward to exchanging ideas!
