My name is Cecilia Giurgevich. I was born and raised in Trieste (IT) but I soon moved to Milano to continue my studies. While studying Economics and Management of Fine Arts, I founded VOX, a cultural association aimed to spread under 30s culture amongst peers. I was editor in chief for the Theatre and Live Performance section, writing articles and producing podcasts and video interviews. I focused my bachelor dissertation on questioning the relevance of artists residency and investigating in case studies such as Casa Degli Artisti, Spazio Lazzaro Palazzi and Via Fiuggi.
In 2015 I moved to London to study Curating Contemporary Art at the Royal College of Art, and soon my curatorial practice started with exhibitions such as Sound Yard at Iklectic Art Lab, Recede/Re-seed and, most importantly Open House, a year-long project in collaboration with Delfina Foundation. Whilst expanding my practice collaborating with peers and staging shows, I started to focus my research on collecting, initially through my MA dissertation entitled "Private collectors and Digital Art: an investigation of the practice".
Currently, I am Project Assistant for the European projects at Edouard Malingue, a gallery based in Shanghai and Hong Kong that aims to build a critical dialogue between Asian and international artists. Amongst the project I contributed to, there is Yuan Yuan: Alternative Realities at Palazzo Terzi (Bergamo, IT), Joao Vasco Paiva's commission at Bold Tendencies (London) and Wong Ping's solo booth at Frieze Art Fair (London).
