Kate Davis (b. 1988, Sydney, Australia) is a Melbourne based artist and curator with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from UNSW Art and Design (2010), a Graduate Certificate in Art History (2012) and a Diploma in Teaching (2013) from the University of Melbourne. With an interest in the intersection between art, education and community, Kate has held positions and organised projects in a range of environments, such as festivals, institutions, artist-run initiatives, community spaces and schools. Working at the National Gallery of Victoria as a Public Programs Representative (2014 - 2015), she developed a passion for curating and public programming. She then went on to be offered a position at the 20th Biennale of Sydney where she was an Artist Liaison and Venue Coordinator (2015 - 2016), before taking on a position as a Curator at Berlin based project space Centrum (2016 - 2017). At the end of 2017, Moreland City Council commissioned Collective Care, a socially engaged public artwork that was developed with Hannan Jones for MoreArt Public Art Show. At the beginning of this year, Kate was invited to undertake a curatorial residency at the Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts in Taipei.
In June Kate co-founded Pavement Projects, which is a window box art space in Melbourne. In August she was invited to participate in the 4A Curators' Intensive which was organised by the 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art and led by Joselina Cruz, Reem Fadda, Natalie King and Philip Tinari. At present Kate is developing Trade Route 55, another socially engaged public art project for Moreland City Council, this time in collaboration with Amie Anderson.
